Whether you’re implementing new technologies, upgrading existing infrastructure or evaluating current needs, consultants can help you identify and document the gap between your current situation and a desired future state. When an assessment is done correctly, it can provide a solid foundation for successful implementation and improvement. The consultant first interviews stakeholders, analyzes data, and compares your business against best practices or specific industry competitors.

Cyberbreaches aren’t just in the news—they are the news. Yet headlines rarely mention the No. 1 source of those breaches: weak or stolen passwords. Whether they involve malware, hacking, phishing, or social engineering, the vast majority of breaches begin with account compromise and credential theft, followed by dormant lateral network movement and data exfiltration. In fact, weak or stolen passwords account for a staggering 81% of breaches, according to the Verizon 2017 Data Breach Investigations Report. Not surprisingly, a new Okta-sponsored IDG survey finds that identity access management (IAM) is a top priority for nearly three-quarters (74%) of IT and security leaders. Yet the same survey uncovers widespread concern that their current IAM implementations are falling short. Just one worrisome example: Fewer than one-third (30%) of respondents report a good or better ability to detect a compromise of credentials. The following report explores the gap between respondents’ aspiratio

It is common belief that automation of existing processes and implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system can help organizations with their strategic objectives and seamlessly translate into operational excellence. In the great Internet of Things (IoT) gold rush, early adopters have largely left behind identity and access management. As a result, many organizations are scrambling to deal with the consequences. Successful IoT implementations have complex relationships to people, things, and services, and the only sustainable and secure method for securing the IoT long term is to enable persistent identity across applications, devices, and things.

High-priority big data and analytics projects often target customer-centric outcomes such as improving customer loyalty or improving up-selling. In fact, an IBM Institute for Business Value study found that nearly half of all organizations with active big data pilots or implementations identified customer-c entric outcomes as a top objective (see Figure 1).1 However, big data and analytics can also help companies understand how changes to products or services will impact customers, as well as address aspects of security and intelligence, risk and financial management, and operational optimization.

Consumers worldwide continue to adopt and use technology in their shopping experience. Faced with rising customer expectations and increasing competitive pressures, retailers now are prioritizing in-store innovation. Many retailers have adopted multichannel implementations, in which mobile, web, and in-store shopping are enabled but not delivered consistently to the customer. The next step in this evolution is an omnichannel strategy, now being deployed by some retailers, which presents a consistent shopping experience across mobile, web, and in-store channels. Omnichannel also enables retailers to integrate back-end infrastructure technologies (e.g., servers, databases, etc.) and cloud-based services (e.g., loyalty programs, personalized recommendations, inventory management, etc.) to improve many aspects of store and enterprise operations. An omnichannel strategy relies on several core and supporting technologies. The key factors in evaluating any omnichannel-enabling solution includ
