Customers buy products in return for money. But at the heart of our client's vision was another exchange, which was perhaps even more fundamental. Customers would give their time and attention - and in return they wanted an experience that meets their needs, what is often referred to as 'return on engagement' But how can you offer a suitable experience when you don't know enough about the customer? Our client had gathered data, but it was siloed - and there was a big disconnect between the physical and digital operations of the business. The two were not integrated, making it difficult to build a picture of the customers' widely varying needs. This was also a global business with different approaches for different markets, leading to further inefficiencies and silos. Our client is a Finnish consulting and engineering company that deals with some of the world's toughest industries. Since 1958, the company has handled the power transmission system for the Swedish National Grid, revamped Salzburg railway station, and has been involved in 90 percent of the world's largest pulp mill designs. The nature of our client's work places unique demands on their IT infrastructure. Many of their projects require them to set up temporary offices in remote locations to deliver their engineering expertise, making seamless connectivity a critical business requirement. Large files, such as complex pipeline drawings, are passed between team members in different locations. Any outage that causes a delay in projects leads to potential financial penalties and damage to reputation.

In HR, working purely on instinct is dangerous. HR Professionals are highly skilled, and their experienced opinion is extremely valuable when it comes to selecting candidates, assessing performance, and all the other important aspects of this function. Not necessarily easy, but obvious. There was plenty of data, but it wasn't being used to improve HR decision making. We designed an analytics solution that would improve HR Decision making. We designed an analytics solution that would improve the efficiency of data gathering, to make the HR function more effective. We then proposed an additional layer, which would use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve HR Decision-making further.

Commercial airplanes are expensive and complicated machines - which means two things. First, airlines have to get the best possible return from their investment by using them as much as possible. Long-haul flights can keep an airplane in the air for up to 20 hours every day, earning money for the airline with every passing minute. However, the planes makes no money on the ground, so airlines have to maintain and service the aircraft efficiently, and get it back in the air with a new payload of passengers as quickly as possible. Therefore, the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) is a critical and complex part of an airline's business and one of the key factors in making the business successful. Aircraft are the geese that lay golden eggs for the airline. So the airlines need to look after them.
