Cloud computing has ushered in a golden era for software companies. The cloud’s low barrier to entry allows creativity to flourish, especially for software developers who are creating applications directly on cloud-based infrastructure. Cloud-based infrastructure enables developers to do what they love: solve business problems and bring innovative new ideas to life, using their choice of tools. In a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, applications can easily be deployed to a cloud service, and delivered to clients who appreciate the ease of access and low cost. The cloud model relieves the developer and the enterprise IT professional from the burden of managing or maintaining capital-intense infrastructure. But the cloud’s low barrier to entry also allows competing software providers to enter the market every day, from every sector. Independent software vendors, or ISVs, are pressured by increased competition to deliver their applications faster, with greater functionality and ease of

The world of IT is undergoing a digital transformation. Applications are growing fast, and so are the users consuming them. These applications are everywhere—in the datacenter, on virtual and/or microservices platforms, in the cloud, and as SaaS. More and more apps are now being moved out of datacenters to a cloud-based infrastructure. In order for an optimized and secure delivery of these applications, IT needs specific network appliances called Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs). These ADCs come in hardware, virtual, and containerized form factors, and are sized by Network Administrators based on the current and future usage of applications. The challenge with this is that it’s hard to foresee sizing or scalability requirements for these ADCs since users are constantly increasing, and applications are consistently evolving, as well as moving out of datacenters. Complicating matters, most ADCs are fixed-capacity network appliances that provide zero or minimum expansion capability

"Cloud-first, mobile-first organizations are seeing huge benefits from taking a more distributed approach to IT and user access management. Business units are given more freedom to evaluate and select SaaS applications that will enable efficiency and growth. Users are given more freedom to use the devices that make them the most productive. When this trend started, most IT organizations were able to implement some basic, manual processes to administer and govern IT in this best-of-breed distributed environment. However, as the number of touchpoints increases, IT needs to automate to keep pace and stay secure. This white paper goes into more detail on the top 5 reasons to automate identity lifecycle and identity administration with comprehensive user provisioning and build a solid foundation for future cloud-first, mobile-first IT."

SaaS has fundamentally changed security requirements. We used to just go into work, and everything—corporate applications, sensitive customer data, employee health records, etc.—was within the “safe” four walls of the corporate network behind a firewall. Now employees work remotely and use mobile devices, including unmanaged, personal devices. They access SaaS apps that live in the cloud without any sort of firewall that IT can use to monitor and manage access. Prominent examples include Salesforce.com, Google Apps, Office 365, Box, and many others. As employees use these SaaS apps, they are creating proprietary company data, often confidential in nature, that exists outside the control of IT, creating new challenges for security teams. In this new world, IT needs to track sensitive corporate data in third-party SaaS apps, and ensure that only the right people have the right level of access to it. In this whitepaper, we’ll explain ten steps on how to do that
