Now that the technology sector as a whole is becoming increasingly user friendly, transparent and hands on, it makes sense for colocation data centers to offer a higher level of insight and transparency into their clients’ individual environments.
Location-based services (LBS) show promise as a budding customer-centric mobility solution in some early adopting verticals such as retail, hospitality, and large public venues. Such services enable businesses to better understand their customer base through analytics as well as offer targeted, context-based communications including promotions and remote assistance. This IDC white paper explores the burgeoning LBS market, highlighting custom research conducted by IDC in March and April 2014; surveys were fielded to both IT and line-of-business (LOB) decision makers in select verticals and market segments. In this white paper, IDC analyzes the data and explores the attitudes surrounding LBS adoption in the context of broader technology trends.

This colocation buyer’s guide includes a checklist of important factors to consider before choosing a provider, along with buying criteria to help you make the best decision for your infrastructure needs.
In today’s on-demand economy, speed and flexibility are critical. The modern workforce uses multiple devices, expecting them to work
seamlessly from any location, at any time. They want to communicate in real time and must have easy access to the data and productivity tools they need to do their jobs well.
Office 365 harnesses the power of the cloud to improve the capabilities of the familiar Microsoft Office suite to meet these expectations. It’s a robust productivity toolbox that helps companies
transform the way they engage, serve and sell to customers.
As enterprises large and small shift their information to the cloud, an explosion of SaaS tools are making it easier than ever for employees to collaborate and innovate. Much of this sharing is being done across time zones and physical locations, by workers who are telecommuting, working in shared or public spaces, and from open networks. Information is stored on central, third-party servers that are accessible across the company and the world by anyone with an internet connection.
As a result, online security is increasingly being pushed to the forefront as a major corporate expense. Yet, 89% of the global information workforce lack clarity on how security applies to the cloud. “Data is suddenly everywhere, and so are the number of people, access points and administrators who can control – or worse, copy – the data." Nobody can afford to lose data. But managing the backup
and recovery of data and services in far-flung locations can present many logistical and technology challenges that add complexity, expense, and risk. A new branch converged
infrastructure approach allows IT to project virtual servers
and data to the edge, providing for local access and performance while data is actually stored in centralized data centers. IT can now protect data centrally and restore branch operations in a matter of minutes versus days.
Learn how much money your business can save.
In an objective study commissioned by Microsoft, Forrester Consulting investigated the Total Economic Impact™ for small to medium sized businesses, with 1 to 250 employees, using Office 365. The study revealed a sizeable return on investment.
One business founder had this to say, “The productivity gain is the main thing for me with Office 365. It’s allowed everybody to be more productive, and if there is any element of downtime on hardware, it’s just a case of moving into another location, whether it’d be the next desk, office, or Starbucks.”

Knowledge of the location of customers, property, products or any other asset is invaluable intelligence for improving competitive advantage and operational efficiency. However, despite the proliferation of data that businesses generate today, the potential value of this location dimension is often overlooked in the business intelligence process.

As the demand for bandwidth grows, so does the reach of networks. Users need to access data globally, from multiple locations around the world, quickly and transparently without breaking budgets. Data centers locked into servicing only local users unnecessarily constrain growth and expansion.

ITS technology is a general term. Two common and related forms of ITS communication technology using event stream processing are referred to as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to-infrastructure (V2X) in the US, and car-to-infrastructure (Car2X) in Europe. The two types of connected-car research and development programs often overlap and can be integrated. Car2X enables vehicle communication with the road transportation infrastructure and provides the ability to send or receive local information about traffic conditions, geo-markers (e.g. to identify pothole locations), road hazards, alerts, safety vehicles, etc. V2V focuses on connected-car technology and the anonymous communication of sensor data continuously transmitted to and from cars. Using event stream processing, this streaming data enables the real-time synthesis of information to communicate what will improve and promote driver safety, reduce crashes, and improve vehicle transportation efficiency.
