The Internet of Things (IoT) is composed of sensor-embedded devices and machines that exchange data with each other and the cloud through a secure network. Often referred to as “things” or “edge devices”, these intelligent machines connect to the internet either directly or through an IoT gateway, enabling them to send data to the cloud. Analyzing this data can reveal valuable insights about these objects and the business processes they’re part of, helping enterprises optimize their operations. Devices in IoT deployments can span nearly any industry or use case. Each one is equipped with sensors, processing power, connectivity, and software, enabling asset control and other remote interactions over the internet. Unlike traditional IT assets, these edge devices are resource-constrained (either by bandwidth, storage, or processing power) and are typically found outside of a data center, creating unique security and management considerations.

The hybrid cloud has been heralded as a promising IT operational model enabling enterprises to maintain security and control over the infrastructure on which their applications run. At the same time, it promises to maximize ROI from their local data center and leverage public cloud infrastructure for an occasional demand spike. Public clouds are relatively new in the IT landscape and their adoption has accelerated over the last few years with multiple vendors now offering solutions as well as improved on-ramps for workloads to ease the adoption of a hybrid cloud model. With these advances and the ability to choose between a local data center and multiple public cloud offerings, one fundamental question must still be answered: What, when and where to run workloads to assure performance while maximizing efficiency? In this whitepaper, we explore some of the players in Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and hybrid cloud, the challenges surrounding effective implementation, and how to iden

How did you choose your anti-malware solution? Did you put it through the same rigorous process as your other security solutions? Or, did you simply renew your current product licensing? Perhaps you went with something you had used at a previous job. Maybe you even went so far as to read a few product reviews and third-party test results or evaluations. But, did you test the anti-malware solution yourself? In this book, we explain how artificial intelligence (AI) can help your enterprise combat malware threats in a more preventative, proactive, and radically better way than legacy anti-malware products. We explain why you shouldn't just believe a vendor's marketing. Instead, you should test different solutions for yourself, just as you would with any other major security investment. Read more in this eBook.

Forrester Consulting was commissioned to conduct a Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study to examine the potential return on investment (ROI) enterprises may realize by deploying Cylance's advanced threat protection solution, CylancePROTECT®, and its deployment and configuration services, ThreatZero™. The study aims to provide readers with a framework to evaluate the potential financial impact of CylancePROTECT and ThreatZero on their organizations, which will improve customer success with advanced cybersecurity and antivirus protection solutions. To better understand the benefits, costs, and risks associated with an investment in Cylance, Forrester interviewed the Chief Information Security Officer for a Large State County Government, who has used the solutions for over a year. Cylance provides a new-generation, predictive, cybersecurity, and malware prevention solution that leverages artificial intelligence to prevent malware from executing on endpoints in real time. This is usually implemented with ThreatZero, which is a continuous professional service program rendered by Cylance for users of CylancePROTECT. ThreatZero guides through the planning, implementation, integration, and ongoing optimization of the solution. This often includes end user education, training, and support to totally eliminate endpoint threats and incidents. With CylancePROTECT and ThreatZero, the organization was able to reduce security breaches to almost zero, catching malware before it ever gained access to public records. Relative to their previous endpoint protection, this significantly reduced costs from remediation/reimaging and incidence response. Additionally, IT and security employees’ productivity were boosted. Code signing is at a crossroads. In many enterprises, the traditional approach remains standard procedure: you purchase a code-signing certificate, download it, and deploy it locally for all your code-signing needs. When carefully managed, this approach can still be very effective in guarding against malware. But recent events have shown that many companies are finding it a challenge to manage their code signing certificate deployments—and failures in certificate management can have serious consequences. To discover how our Secure App Service solution can help you manage your codesigning efforts and provide enterprise-level support, all at a predictable cost, download this whitepaper today and find out more.

"High-profile cyber attacks seem to occur almost daily in recent years. Clearly security threats are persistent and growing. While many organizations have adopted a defense-in-depth strategy — utilizing anti-virus protection, firewalls, intruder prevention systems, sandboxing, and secure web gateways — most IT departments still fail to explicitly protect the Domain Name System (DNS). This oversight leaves a massive gap in network defenses. But this infrastructure doesn’t have to be a vulnerability. Solutions that protect recursive DNS (rDNS) can serve as a simple and effective security control point for end users and devices on your network. Today’s workforce is increasingly nomadic. Employees use personal and company-owned devices desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones with various operating systems to access corporate resources over different networks from virtually anywhere. Roaming users and cloud-based applications have eroded the network perimeter where enterprises have traditionally focused their security controls. In the wake of this disruption, vendors offered myriad point products that solve only a portion of the security problem. These products usually require costly custom integrations and high management overhead to boot. Making matters worse, traditional security approaches can’t address an evolving threat landscape that includes ransomware, stealthy attacks that dwell in a customer’s environment for months, and threats targeting iOS and Android devices. In fact, the mobile workforce is more vulnerable than ever before.

In the wake of data hacks and privacy concerns, enterprises are working extra hard to make sure they secure customer data from external threats. But what about securing data internally? Organizations unknowingly leave a big security hole in their own systems when they fail to have structured internal processes to handle access requests for employees, which could have disastrous implications for data security. A leading US bank sought to move its internal applications to a secure system for a standard and consistent access rights experience. See how Infosys helped and the five key takeaways from the project.

There is one certainty with cybersecurity and that is nothing is certain. Take for example the role the endpoint plays in keeping an enterprise secure. While many cybersecurity professionals are relatively certain that endpoints are locked down and security policies are being enforced, the simple fact of the matter is that endpoints prove to be the root of most compromises. System vulnerabilities, ransomware, malware, intrusions, and other malicious activities are on the rise, showing that today’s cybersecurity professionals are hard-pressed to keep enterprises secure. Although threats are growing in sophistication and attack vectors are expanding, many of the intrusions and cyber attacks happening today are simply a result of improper protections being put in place, systems going unpatched, or weak security policies. While much of the blame is being placed on cybersecurity professionals, the real blame should often be placed upon the tools and policies that many of those professionals have come to trust and the complexity that comes with them.

Challenge Understanding, managing and containing risk has become a critical factor for many organizations as they plot their hybrid architecture strategy. Access by an expanding array of privileged identities looms large as a risk concern once organizations look beyond tactically using cloud services for cost and agility efficiencies. Existing approaches developed for static infrastructure can address initial risk concerns, but fall short in providing consistent policy enforcement and continuous visibility for dynamic, distributed infrastructure. Opportunity Multiple elements factor into how effectively an enterprise can embrace automation and advance the maturity of their transformation. However, security tools are central to enabling a structured and measured approach to managing critical access risks at each stage of the maturity model journey. With the right privileged access platform and set of tools, enterprises can progressively automate and scale access management to align risk
